Since 1953, features exhibitor displaying and selling their wares. Come to the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium for a terrific rock, mineral, gem, lapidary, and jewelry show. The Civic is located at Center and Church streets, downtown Santa Cruz, CA. Doors are open from 10am to 5pm, and admission is just $6. Children under 12 and Scouts in uniform get in for free. Look for $1 off cards in local stores, in advertisements in local newspapers.
The Santa Cruz Mineral and Gem Society, which was organized in 1949, holds it meetings on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 PM at the Live Oak Grange Hall, 1900 17th Avenue in Santa Cruz. The first half hour of the meeting is the social time where members and guests display and discuss their specimens. This is followed a short business meeting including public announcements and open discussions. After a short social break and a raffle for various rocky items, an organized educational presentation by club members or outside experts on various topics identified to be of interest to members. Junior participation is encouraged and guests are always welcome.

Applications for membership may be made at the meeting. Dues are $25 for individuals, $35 for families at the same address. Dues are due October 1st of each year.

Our monthly newsletter, “The Lapidarian”, includes announcements of field trips and other club related events, upcoming rock and mineral shows, interesting and informative articles on geology, lapidary and other aspects of our hobby.

In addition to our annual shows, field trips, and lapidary shop, we have a library which includes a large variety of books on geology, paleontology, Jewelry fabrication, gemstones and many more topics.

A Brief History of the
Palmdale Gem and Mineral Club, Inc.

The Palmdale Gem and Mineral Club, Inc., was formed on November 11, 1957 and was incorporated on August 7, 1959 as a Non-profit Public Benefit Corporation to promote the scientific study and the appreciation of rocks and minerals, to learn and perpetuate the lapidary arts, and to increase the knowledge of members and the community in earth sciences and lapidary arts.
– Twenty-six charter members were present at the first meeting.
– The meeting was held in Marriott School Auditorium.
– Jerry Kirer was elected President.
– Dues were set at $2.50 per year with a $1.00 Initiation fee per member.
– In the first year, membership grew to 79.
– Field trips, interesting presentations at meetings and club representation at the Antelope Valley Fair were evident from the very beginning of the Club.
In June 1958, the Club became a member of the California Federation of Mineralogical Societies. Federation dues that year were 25 cents per member.
In April of 1958, the Gem and Mineral Club hosted its first Rock and Gem Show; it was called the “Gem Roundup”. The show has grown dramatically ever since.
In June 2007, the Gem and Mineral Club hosted the California Federation of Mineralogical Club’s annual show at the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds.
In the first year of formation, the Club had 79 members. Today, there are over 40 members and conducts monthly General Membership meetings, Lapidary programs, Junior programs and Educational programs; Co-hosts the annual Gem and Mineral Exhibit at the Antelope Valley Fair and conducts numerous field trips throughout the year.

Vallejo Gem & Mineral Society was founded October 8, 1954.

It was formed by rockhounds interested in sharing their interest and knowledge of rocks, minerals, geology, and other aspects of rockhounding and collecting, cutting, and polishing.

We are a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization dedicated to sharing our knowledge and talents of lapidary, lost wax casting, wire wrapping, silversmithing, beading, and other jewelry and crafting skills.
