The North Shore Rock and Mineral Club will be hosting the 56th annual NEW ENGLAND GEM & MINERAL SHOW: Saturday May 4, 2019, and Sunday May 5 at the Topsfield Fairgrounds, Coolidge Hall, on Route 1 in Topsfield, MA. Retail and wholesale dealers, minerals, fossils, beads, gem stones, jewelry, lapidary, exhibits and mineral and fossil identification. www.northshorerock.org
Club Purpose: The North Shore Rock & Mineral Club was formed in 1958 to stimulate interest in the collection of minerals and to disseminate knowledge of minerology, collecting and classification of materials and their application to the arts so that greater pleasure may be derived from these hobbies.

Membership: Annual dues are $10 for an individual and $15 for a family or couple. New members must attend a monthly meeting to join.

Monthly Meeting: Club meetings take place the third Friday, September through June at the First Church – Holland Hall, 1 Arbor Street, Wenham at 7:45PM.

Pebble Pups, Our “Children’s Group”: Dedicated to the introduction of rocks, minerals, and fossils. During our monthly meeting all children are invited to join Pebble Pups Leader, Tom Rich, for special projects, learning and fun.

Field Trip: Club members enjoy many field trips during the spring, summer, and fall months. Day and longer trips (usually occurring on traditional three-day weekends) provide members the ability to collect specimens and directly learn about geology.

Mineral Matter: The official newsletter of the North Shore Rock & Mineral Club is published and sent to the membership each month, September through June. To receive a single copy of the newsletter send an email to nsrmc@verizon.net.

Annual Show: The Club hosts it’s Annual New England Gem & Mineral Show the first weekend in May at the Topsfield Fairgrounds on Route 1 North, Topsfield, Massachusetts.

Gilsum Rock Swap and Mineral Show, sponsored by the Gilsum Recreation Committee, attracts thousands of rock and mineral enthusiasts from across the country each year. The event, known for its scenic location and small-town hospitality, will take place on the weekend of June 23-24, 2018 at the Gilsum Elementary School & Community Center, 640 Route 10 in Gilsum, NH. All monies raised by this event go to community recreation programs. Admission is free, although we do accept donations.

This year’s event includes a special presentation by mineral hunter and geologist Nancy Swing. Don’t miss “Rock-Hounding in New England,” Saturday at 1:00 PM in the auditorium, when she will share her own experiences rock hunting at key sites in the Northeast. Swing is the owner of Natures. She began collecting at the age of three, and is a regular speaker at rock and gem shows. This presentation is free.

Other events include our annual ham and bean dinner with homemade pies, a chicken barbecue, and panning for minerals for the kids.

1 PM: SPECIAL PRESENTATION: Speaker to be determined.

4:45 PM: Annual Ham & Bean Dinner with homemade beans and pies! Three seatings beginning at 4:45, 5:45 and 6:45 PM at Gilsum Congregational Church. Tickets on sale at the Rock Swap Central information booth all day and at the church at meal time.

The show will feature over 25 dealers, wholesalers, lapidary demonstrations, a fluorescent mineral exhibit, six free rocks for kids, and several mineral exhibits. Earth science students are encouraged to complete a questionnaire based on exhibits around the room.
